Michael Zhan 在福建北部山区的一间小作坊发现了这个座架，离供应当地招牌竹编器具的竹林不远。当时他正为另一个项目采购浓香岩茶，一位当地中介提起有位木匠专门为老茶馆制作「水塔」。出于好奇，Michael 沿着土路步行，来到三座作坊聚集之处，那里父子们仍以手工劈竹。
这个水瓶座架本非商品——一位年迈的茶师为他的学生订制了一套六个，每个都根据学生拥有的水瓶高度精准裁切。Michael 花了两个下午，观看师傅调整榫接，并以装满石头的壶测试稳定性。他说服作坊生产一小批量，采用标准高度与顶环，并使用已风干三个雨季的八年老毛竹。
每个座架均以榫卯接合组装，无胶无钉。顶环经蒸气软化弯曲，再以单股藤条捆绑。由于竹子是活材，每座都有自己独特的竹节纹理与轻微色差——正是茶人所珍视的不规则之美。Michael 每年返回一次，查看新收获的竹材，并带回十二件作品。
